Addiction Physician/Medical Director:

M. Khaled, MD, CCFP

Dr. Khaled is the medical director at NEWORLD Medical Detox. He leads the medical team and prescribes medication for Neworld clients to manage their withdrawal symptoms and detox professionally and safely. He has been in family practice for over 25 years. He has a wealth of experience in both the management of chronic pain and opioid dependency treatment.  He graduated from the University of Toronto 1988 and is a certificant of the College of Family Physicians of Canada. He has also completed extra training and earned his Opioid Dependency Treatment Certificate from CAMH.  He is a member of the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and The Canadian Pain Society.  He is licensed to prescribe methadone.

Dr. Khaled has been an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University School of Medicine for many years.  He is actively involved in many aspects of the medical school including teaching medical students, interns and residents. 

He is also the medical director of the Refuge Clinic in Hamilton and leads a team of dedicated and skilled physicians, nurses and allied health professionals in providing free medical care to refugees and newcomers.

Clinical Director/Toxicologist :

M. Enara, PhD, CACII

Dr. Enara holds a Ph.D. degree in clinical toxicology. He is a certified addiction counselor approved through the Canadian Council of Professional Certification with 10+ years of experience in addiction management. Dr Enara is also a member of the Canadian Society of Addiction Medicine as well as the Canadian Addiction Counselors Certification Federation. Dr Enara holds a certificate in addiction counseling from Alberta Counseling College. He was included in The Leading Physicians of the World publication through the International Association of HealthCare Professionals of New York. He holds a degree in healthcare management.

Dr. Enara works as a toxicologist in cooperation with the medical team to ensure most updated detox protocols are implemented for NEWORLD clients to pass withdrawals safely and smoothly. As a certified addiction counselor, he helps the psychosocial team to tailor a suitable exit plan for every client at NEWORLD upon discharge.

Psychosocial planner/Head of psychosocial team :

Jessica Ricci, BA, MA, RP

Jessica Ricci is a registered psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario as well as a general member of the Ontario Association of Consultants, Counselors, Psychometrists, and Psychotherapists. Jessica has over 5 years experience in the Mental Health and Addiction field, guiding clients on their path to experience wellness, balance, and embrace the present moment.  Jessica has received her Master’s of Arts in Counseling Psychology and graduated with the distinction of Magna Cum Laude as well as a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Psychology.

Jessica’s role as a psychotherapist at NEWORLD is to assess client’s lifestyle, family history and living arrangements to enhance the recovery process. This approach is multifaceted to create a thorough discharge plan for the maximum clients success rate post detox.

General Manager

Mr. T. Mansour

Mr. Mansour is NEWORLD General Manager.  He spent more than 25 years in multinational corporations both in the Finance function and in General Management.  Mr. Mansour was the Chief Financial Officer of a large multinational corporation and was also the General Manager leading large businesses in the consumer goods categories.
