LSD & Mushrooms

What is LSD/acid?
LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) is a potent hallucinogen, a drug that can alter a person’s perception of reality and distort the senses. LSD is usually taken by mouth and held on the tongue or swallowed. It can also be inhaled or injected. Effects of LSD include:

numbness, rapid heartbeat, reduced coordination, chills, nausea, tremor, weakness and dilated pupils. Sensations of gravity may be altered, ranging from feeling weighed down, to feeling light and floating. It also causes the senses of space, distance, and time to become altered. People say they “hear” colors or “see” sounds, and have strange feelings and strong emotions. Bad reactions can happen with the first use and a user may have flashbacks later, experiencing the feelings of a bad trip even after the drug wears off.

Many users refer to an “acid trip”. Effects don’t let up and can last for up to 12 hours at a time. LSD also can cause panic, confusion, sadness, and scary images. Because LSD also affects judgment and behavior, users might find themselves in a dangerous situation. Physical changes include increased heart rate and blood pressure, muscle twitches and shaking, dilated pupils, sweating, sleeplessness, and loss of appetite.

NEWORLD Medical Detox follows a special protocol to detox from LSD and help guide to an alternative and complementary therapy post detox.

Symptoms and Effects of LSD/Acid Addiction

LSD, in any form, has potent effects that cause people to abuse it over and over again. When the hallucinogen enters the body, it grabs hold of the user’s brain and leads him to lose touch with reality. At initially, a person taking the substance will feel extreme happiness, as well as heightened senses and what some consider actual “enlightenment.” An LSD “trip’s” first effects are significantly more emotional than physical. Users experience a tidal rush of feelings that shift quickly from one to the next.

When a greater dose is given, LSD users may experience delusions and visual hallucinations. They also may experience a “cross-over” of senses; in which one may hear colours and see noises. LSD was once employed in spiritual and religious ceremonies as a result of its emotional and mental effects. However, it was because of these properties that it became a high-abuse substance. LSD use can also lead to an experience known as “Bad Trip” which has the following effects:

The psychological consequences of LSD intoxication might persist anywhere from 6 to 10 hours on average 2. In some situations, especially at large doses of the substance, LSD can cause powerful, overpowering negative psychological experiences in some users. The following are signs of a so-called “bad trip”:

  • Paranoia
  • Extreme anxiety
  • Fear of dying or losing sense of self
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Delusional
  • Disorientation
  • Violent/reckless behaviour

LSD tolerance develops quickly; if a given dose is taken every day for three days in a row, there will be no reaction on the third day. Users who abuse the substance on a regular basis must take ever higher dosages to obtain the same level of intoxication as before. This method is especially risky since as the dose grows, the chances of the user having a “poor trip” and undesirable psychological side effects increase.

Symptoms

LSD Addiction Treatment with Neworld

While LSD usage seldom leads to addiction, early users are more likely to build a tolerance, which may necessitate drug treatment for young adults. Because LSD allows a user to disconnect from his daily life and pressures, he may feel compelled to take more of the drug in order to relive the sensation. Every dose of LSD builds up in the body, which is why it can cause repeating flashbacks over time. However, because of its buildup, the remains of LSD will remain in a user’s system, requiring him to raise his dosage in order to achieve the same high. Because the effects of LSD are always unpredictable and usually hazardous in high doses, this is highly perilous for young adults.

Treatment for young individuals with an LSD addiction at Neworld Medical Detox entails closely monitoring each client’s mental and physical status until the drug’s effects have worn off and the body has been cleansed. We also ensure that adolescents and young people truly learn to live a life without the use of LSD by substituting drug-using behaviours with healthy, active alternatives.

LSD Withdrawl Symptoms

Chemical dependence isn’t as common with LSD as it is with other illicit drugs like cocaine and heroin. Chemically addictive drugs often generate a high level of adaption in the brain.

Within consuming it, tolerance develops, although it normally fades after a few days with no cravings or discomfort. LSD addiction is usually psychological rather than physical. Psychological withdrawal symptoms are ambiguous and difficult to anticipate, but they are unlikely to occur in the majority of LSD users. They can, however, induce the following symptoms:

  • Discomfort in general
  • Restlessness
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Insomnia

Other long-term effects of LSD, such as hypersomnia, might occur after you consume the drug and may last for a long time after you stop.

Mushrooms

Mushrooms are chemical compounds obtained from certain types of dried or fresh hallucinogenic mushrooms. Psilocybin effects are similar to those of other hallucinogens.Use of mushrooms results in visual and auditory hallucinations and an inability to differentiate between fantasy and reality. Panic reactions and psychosis also may occur. Combined use with alcohol and marijuana can worsen all of these effects. Hallucinogens such as mushrooms and LSD may alter the mood, sensory perception and muscle control. Physical effects of mushrooms may include a feeling of nausea, vomiting, muscle weakness, confusion, and a lack of coordination.
